Year One

Our goal: 10,000 meals served on Long Island

Help us reach our very first dollar

94¢

Of every dollar pledged to families in need

Food insecurity does not live only in big cities. It lives here — on Long Island — in the family that skips dinner so the kids can eat, in the senior choosing between groceries and medication. At Food For Thought, we are starting small, starting local, and starting now. We believe that ending hunger in our community is not a distant dream. It is a promise we intend to keep.

— Food For Thought, founding statement

Three pillars.
One community.

01

Community Pantries

Our first goal is to open a neighborhood food pantry right here on Long Island — a welcoming, judgment-free space where anyone in need can access fresh, nutritious food at no cost.

02

Doorstep Delivery

We plan to deliver hot, nutritious meals directly to Long Island seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families in crisis who cannot come to us. We will come to them.

03

School Nourishment

We aim to partner with local Long Island schools to send meal kits home with students over weekends and holidays — because no child should go hungry when school is not in session.

From your generosity

I

You give

Any amount makes a difference. Every founding dollar goes directly toward launching our first program on Long Island.

II

We build

We will establish local partnerships with Long Island farms, food banks, and grocery rescue programs to source nutritious food.

III

We prepare

Volunteers will sort, pack, and deliver — every box put together with care and purpose. Want to volunteer? Reach out to us.

IV

Families eat

A Long Island family sits down to a meal. A child goes to bed full. Your founding gift made that moment happen.

A local problem.
A local answer.

“Hunger on Long Island is invisible to most people — but it is very real for thousands of our neighbors. We started Food For Thought because someone has to.”

Food For Thought was founded right here on Long Island by people who saw the need in their own neighborhoods and decided to act. We are in our earliest days — not yet operational, still laying the groundwork — but our commitment is absolute. With your support as a founding donor, we will open our doors, serve our first families, and begin building the kind of community where no one goes hungry.
